We had such a good time with Charlie McCarthy last year, we are doing it again

The Southern Tasmanian Community Orchestra, as a string ensemble orchestra, offers the opportunity for string players, particularly older beginners and returning players, to develop their orchestral string playing technique in a friendly environment with the focus being on enjoyment, social interaction and playing for fun

Participants will form an orchestral ensemble in which aspects of orchestral playing will be covered, including bowing, dynamics, following a conductor, musical styles and interpretation. This will be under the guidance of experienced conductors, teachers and string instrument players

This is an opportunity to experience new repertoire, meet other musicians and players, gain confidence in orchestral techniques and expand your musical knowledge

Some of the most satisfying string playing you can do is in a group situation, from string quartet to string orchestra. Let us help you to develop your skills, become more confident and enjoy your string playing even more! You might also join one of our smaller groups, such as the Cello Choir and Paul's Viola Group
